Vaiapraia released their first record “1755” in 2016, with a distinct garage-rock queer-punk flavor, only to embrace pop and post-punk with the brilliant follow-up “100% Carisma” in 2020. But genres are nothing but a piece of paper you stick to your forehead, and Rodrigo Vaiapraia is and has been many things: either solo, in trio, with band or throughout the many collaborations he’s been involved in.
With a new EP released earlier this year, Vaiapraia is still writing new material, and we’ll witness the unveiling of a new layer in their concert approach, which is now the celebration of the absence of a band: old and new songs, a stripped-back set-up featuring drama, bass, keyboards and small electronics, music, theater, visions and narratives, and always - the voice. Sung, screamed, spoken, repeated.
